Valentine’s edition ❤️❤️
At drink with Faust I decided to go for a complete table set up for valentines night.
I personally disagree with spending a lot of money on getting gifts which may not be even what your partner likes!🤷♀️🤦♀️
I believe your time and passion to make a memory is what makes the valentines night special and priceless.
So let’s start:
I would like to start with the wine. Wine has been a traditional drink for valentines night. It’s classy, light and you can extend your dinner and night while sipping on your wine.
But first question will be “what kind of wine?”
What kind of wine?
Wines can be categorized according to their body, colour and other attributes into red, white, rosé, sparkling and dessert wines.
Considering the types of wines they can be divided into 9 groups.
1. FULL-BODIED RED WINES (CABERNET SAUVIGNON, SYRAH, CABERNET FRANC)
This type of wine goes well with red meat. A juicy steak will be the best with a full bodied wine. Keep in mind that the taste of wine should not be masked with the food. The red meat should be spiced up with salt and pepper and nothing too strong.
2. MEDIUM-BODIED RED WINES (MERLOT, BARBERA)
A medium-bodied wine goes well with almost every food. If you like the fruity note of this group go for it.
3. LIGHT-BODIED RED WINES (PINOT NOIR, GAMAY, BLAUFRÄNKISCH)
This group of wine are well known for their thin body. They are an excellent choice for those who like wines with less tannins.
4. ROSÉ WINES (GRENACHE, SANGIOVESE, MOURVÈDRE)
Rosé is a perfect choice for summer. It is refreshing and fruity.
5. FULL-BODIED WHITE WINES (OAKED CHARDONNAY, RIBOLLA GIALLA)
These white wines are good with poultry and seafood. Cheeses go well with this type of wine. Perfect choice for a dinner that has a light white meat and risotto.
6. LIGHT-BODIED WHITE WINES (SAUVIGNON BLANC, ZELEN, PINELA, PINOT GRIS, RIESLING ITALICO)
These are the most drinkable wines in summer. They can be paired with salads and sushi.
7. AROMATIC WHITE WINES (MOSCATO, GEWÜRZTRAMINER, RIESLING)
If you are a fan of Indian or tai food, this wine group should be on your list.
They are sweet in taste and they taste better when chilled.
8. DESSERT & FORTIFIED WINES (VINJAK, PORT, SHERRY, MADEIRA, LATE HARVEST, NOBLE ROT, STRAW WINE, ICE WINE)
As the name explains this type of wines are good to be accompanied with sweet desserts.
9. SPARKLING WINES (CHAMPAGNE, CAVA, PROSECCO, MÉTHODE CLASSIQUE, PENINA, SEKT LAMBRUSCO)
This is a happy and all the time wines. They can be served chilled during the entire dinner time. But do not serve them with sweets, surprisingly they go well with salty appetizers.
Now that you know the different types of wine think about the flavour you like and the food you like to serve.
You do not need to be a wine expert to get a good one. Go to the store and from “vintage” section pick a bottle with 90+ score. 😉😉
You won’t go wrong, promise 👌🏻🙂
