Sangria is my favourite drink in gatherings because I can make it ahead of time, it is crisp and fruity, it’s alcohol content is more than wine and less than hard liquors and it’s easy to drink by itself.

For this dark sangria you need pomegranate juice, blood oranges, blackberries and brandy.

I usually spice it up by adding star anise and cinnamon sticks.


  • 1 bottle of red wine

  • 1 cup brandy

  • 1 1/2 cup pomegranate juice

  • 1 blood orange slices with the peel

  • 10 black berries

  • 2 Tbsp honey

  • Cinnamon sticks and star anise


  1. Put all ingredients in a serving bowl and stir well to dissolve honey.

  2. Keep it refrigerated.
